1. Brown stew meat - add onions & seasonings.
2. Add first measure of water to meat and bring to boil and reduce heat. Cook and simmer, covered, for 1-2 hours until meat is tender.
3. Mix cornstarch, French Onion base & second measure of water - stir until smooth, gravy mixture will thicken as it cooks.
4. Add to gravy mixture meat while stirring & cook until thickened.
